Dr. Tim R. Holcomb is an Associate Professor of Entrepreneurship, a Farmer School of Business Endres Associate Professor Fellow, and Director of the John W. Altman Institute for Entrepreneurship in the Farmer School of Business at Miami University. Tim previously held The Jim Moran Professor of Entrepreneurship and served as executive director of The Jim Moran Institute for Global Entrepreneurship at Florida State University. While at Florida State, he helped raise $100M to establish the nation's largest interdisciplinary entrepreneurship school, the Jim Moran School of Entrepreneurship. Tim earned his Ph.D. in strategic management and entrepreneurship from the Mays Business School at Texas A&M University, and he earned his bachelor's degree in accounting and information systems and his MBA from the University of Louisiana at Monroe.

Dr. Holcomb has 85 refereed publications, including 7 FT50 journals articles and 53 refereed conference proceedings. His research interests include resource management and human capital theory, behavioral decision theory and judgmental decision-making, and venture formation, funding, and growth. Tim's research appears in leading journals and has earned awards from the Academy of Management, the Strategic Management Society, the Kauffman Foundation, and Babson College. He currently serves on editorial boards for three FT50 journals: Strategic Entrepreneurship Journal, Entrepreneurship Theory & Practice, and Journal of Management. He also serves on the Board of Reviewers for the Babson College Entrepreneurship Research Conference and was elected to serve a 3-year term on the Executive Committee of the Entrepreneurship Division in the 21,000 member Academy of Management. Previously, he served on the Research Committee of the Entrepreneurship and Organization Management & Theory Divisions and was elected to serve a 3-year term on the Executive Committee of the Strategy Division in 2011.

Dr. Holcomb has more than 30 years of strategy consulting, international business, and startup experience, including work in the U.S. and more than 25 countries. He has founded eight startups, raising more than $20 million in venture funding for those companies. Tim began his professional career at Accenture in strategy, where he consulted with Fortune 100 companies for thirteen years. He later founded Telcom Global Solutions (TGS) and two related operating companies and served as President and COO. At Telcom, he built a $30M services business with more than 250 employees that helped companies such as AT&T, Telefonica, Vodafone, Telia, and Telefonica design, build, and run their fixed and mobile networks in ten countries before exiting in a sale of the company to Flex (formerly Flextronics), a Fortune 500 firm. He later served as senior vice president at Flex, where he established and ran Flex's Network Services Division, growing revenues to $800M with 8,000 employees in 2 years.

Dr. Holcomb was named a finalist for Greater Cincinnati Venture Association 2017 Mentor of the Year Award and for VentureOhio 2019 Catalyst of the Year Award for the State of Ohio. He has advised more than 200 startups and high growth companies, helping companies raise $50 M in early-stage venture and growth equity funding. He currently holds board positions with four funded companies: ReliaQuest, a global co-managed cybersecurity services leader, OROS, a leading fabric technology company, Cerkl, a personalized communications platform, and mIQroTech, a pipeline monitoring technology company.
